Sourdough Overnight Oats
Sourdough overnight oats are an easy, nourishing breakfast made by combining rolled oats with sourdough starter and letting them soften and ferment overnight. The fermentation may support easier digestion and nutrient absorption while adding a pleasantly tangy, malty flavor.
Ingredients
BASE RECIPE (per jar):
β’ Β½ cup rolled oats
β’ β cup milk (any kind)
β’ ΒΌ cup sourdough discard
β’ 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
β’ Pinch of salt
β’ Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
METHOD:
Mix everything in a jar or container. Refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
Eat cold: Straight from the fridge. Or warm briefly in microwave if you prefer.
FLAVOR VARIATIONS:
Apple Cinnamon:
Add diced apple, cinnamon, chopped walnuts
Berry:
Add mixed berries, chia seeds, sliced almonds
Chocolate Peanut Butter:
Add cocoa powder, peanut butter, chocolate chips
Tropical:
Add diced mango, shredded coconut, macadamia nuts
